PUBLIC ART
The murals and installations gathered in this section give a glimpse of Rom Levy’s long-time and large-scale activity of public art curating around the world. He brought famous international artists for the first time to major cities in England, France and China to paint walls in the illegality of the early stages of street art, long before it became an institutional art movement. They have now reached cities all over the world, such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Delhi, Moscow, Bali, Miami, Arkansas, Puerto Rico, New York, Berlin and Shanghai.
All of these artists have participated with the help of Rom Levy in the emerging alternative to graffiti now known as urban contemporary art, a thriving new form of creation rooted in the streets that brings art to the people in broad daylight and, increasingly, in institutional spaces. The walls engage with their locations, and reveal the transformative power of art in relation to its context.
